Currently, the main problems of bilateral relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China in the use and protection of transboundary rivers are the issue of increasing water intakes in the territory of the PRC from the transboundary river Ile. In the face of a scarcity of water resources, and taking into account the transboundary nature of Ile River, it is very important to estimate the exact water discharge of the river directly at its entrance to the RK. The article presents the results of a detailed analysis of the results of the measurement of water flow and the calculation of the flow of the Ile River in its border part according to the data of two gauging stations on both sides of the border for 2011…2015. On this basis, practical recommendations on the details of improving the monitoring of river water availability in the area under consideration are formulated.
