Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze existing methods and algorithms used for identification and tracking of baric systems in low and middle troposphere to choose the most reliable data and methods for further research.

Developed a unified methodology of baric system identification based on step-by-step localization of isolated clusters of low and high sea level pressure and geopotential height on ground level and standard isobaric levels. Centers of clusters on different levels are combined in single vertical profile which represents one certain baric system. Tracking of baric system movement realized with improved nearest neighbor method. Software for the purposes of an automatic identification of baric systems in the Northern Hemisphere was developed. Also, created a database of Northern hemisphere baric systems existed during 1976…2015.
